They have a soft spot for formed poetry (especially sestinas) and fantasy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thanks for sharing, Asa!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Ship Speaks of Her Final Moments<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The crash licked her way up me blood-hot.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">metal-epiderm my lungs spit backwards<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; pushed you all out into the unknown<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">like a mother i birthed you forward<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;through space, umbilical tether gravity<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They said I would collide, break all my bones to kiss that land. I asked \u201cDo you promise me?\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">they built me in a harbor-bay, a creaking<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;knowing before the unknown, metal womb<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shaping a silver knife a silver body&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; but that was before i knew any of you<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">like so many rivets, dropped skittering&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;in my aorta through all my arteries you<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">call your ship a woman so i became your<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; woman. you touched me tool and virtue.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You set me to explore, you know. You always urged me answers.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">pilgrimage and pleasure court and funeral<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;catalog and query nip and suck<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nurture and witness anodized and bled<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;succour and executioner killing and alive<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cling your daughter\u2019s braids, your hands leavened<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; your trials in my belly, consummate your treaties<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">i clawed for news of your away missions and<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;if the laundry ever got finished.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You cried into my liver as if I had any power to stop this.
