As a member of Professor Andrea Kaston Tange\u2019s class, ENGL 294-05:  \u201cDown The Rabbit Hole,\u201d I thought I would share my experience with the \u201cFlash Museum\u201d exhibit opening! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My fellow classmates and I were tasked with creating a museum exhibit on a niche 19th-century British topic. First, we drew slips from a hat with our assigned topic, and then we had the rest of the class period to do as much research as possible on that topic. Some of the topics included \u201climelight,\u201d a lighting technology using quicklime, \u201ccrape,\u201d a deadly mourning fabric, \u201cmummy brown,\u201d a pigment made of ground mummies, \u201cwrought iron,\u201d \u201cjacquard,\u201d \u201cstage coach,\u201d \u201cmeerschaum,\u201d \u201ctelegraph,\u201d \u201cthe power loom,\u201d \u201cBerlin wool work,\u201d and \u201cmudlarking.\u201d Then, hearing of our museum project, the ever-benevolent master-planner, Jan Beebe, set up a lovely gallery opening on Wednesday, March 8th, complete with cheese, crackers, and non-alcoholic beverages in fancy glasses. If you\u2019re interested in seeing these exhibits, they\u2019ll be up for a few more weeks! Just go to Old Main 2, turn right after the stairwell, and you\u2019ll see the exhibits pinned to the wall!<\/p>\n\n\n
