Fall Dance Concert 2017: Ghost Light<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Main Stage Theater<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty member Patricia Brown pays homage to beauty in her African-based ensemble work, Beautiful,<\/em> danced to Sowah Mensah\u2019s \u201c2nd Bes.\u201d We were here<\/em>, choreographed by Krista Langberg, is performed against a backdrop of unpolished amateur images of an unpolished space about to disappear. Brian J. Evans\u2019 The Fullness of Unraveled Selves<\/em> is set in the space just behind the heart, where we seek to know ourselves through others. Just Her Time, <\/em>choreographed by Wynn Fricke, reflects on grief as sacred space, inspired by the spare and elegant music of David Lang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student works include that of Midori Hasegawa \u201919, whose dance reflects on resolving internal conflicts.  Sagittal Slice,<\/em> choreographed by Shaylene McCue \u201918, uses the vocabulary of contemporary ballet to frame the human side of the scientific process.  <\/em>Yuri Smith\u2019s \u201918 dancers navigate trust and power, and empathy stripped away.  Oya Come Down<\/em>, choreographed by Nteranya Arnold Sanginga \u201919, takes inspiration from Oya, Goddess of Storms, from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria. Running on Empty<\/em>, choreographed by Meghan Johnson \u201919, examines the relationship between women and body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
