Minor requirements<\/h3>

The Theater minor consists of 24 credits. Students must complete the following requirements:<\/p>

One Introductory course from the following:\nTHDA 105 - Seeing Performance in the Twin Cities<\/a>, or \nTHDA 112 - Reading Plays<\/a> <\/p>

One Performance Design and Technologies course from the following:\nTHDA 125 - Technologies of Performance<\/a> \nTHDA 145 - Make-Up Design and Application<\/a>\nTHDA 225 - Technologies of Performance II<\/a> \nTHDA 232 - Crafting the Tangible<\/a>\nTHDA 235 - Fundamentals of Scenography<\/a> \nTHDA 255 - Lighting Design<\/a> \nTHDA 285 - Costume Design<\/a>\nTHDA 287 - Creative Technologies: Tools of Performance Design<\/a> \nTHDA 375 - Set Design<\/a> <\/p>

Sixteen (16) elective credits from the following:\nTHDA 80 - Performance Practice<\/a>\nTHDA 81 - Technical Practice<\/a> \nTHDA 113 - The Power of the Dancing Body<\/a>\nTHDA 120 - Acting<\/a> \nTHDA 215 - Dance History: Reading the Dancing Body<\/a>\nTHDA 217 - Gender and Race Theory in Performance<\/a> \nTHDA 220 - Voice in Performance<\/a>\nTHDA 230 - The Art of Play: Action, Invention, and Chaos<\/a> \nTHDA 242 - Playwriting<\/a> \nTHDA 345 - Performance Histories and Theories<\/a> \nTHDA 350 - Directing for the Stage<\/a>\nTHDA 360 - Acting Approaches<\/a> <\/p>

Students may not use the same set of courses for the major or different minors in the department, with the exception of required introductory courses. Minors are also welcome to enroll in the Senior Seminar (THDA 490<\/a>) if they are interested in scholarly research.<\/p>

Topic courses may be considered towards the major. Any course that the Theater and Dance Department offers may count as an elective. Check with your advisor to ask about specific courses. In the case of transfer and study away courses, majors and minors should submit a copy of the syllabus and explanation to the Department Coordinator for THDA faculty consideration. International Baccalaureate (IB) courses do not count toward the major or minors.
