This course is open to students at all levels of ability who have a desire to move and a willingness to explore in a non-competitive environment. Students learn to fall, roll and work with gravity in relation to themselves and others. The class includes an introduction to contact improvisation, the &#8220;art-sport&#8221; developed by Steve Paxton in 1972. This course brings balance to mind and body through physical awareness. May be repeated for credit. S\/N grading only.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Frequency: Every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Learn to know and respect your energy level on any given day and work from there, using attention to breath and gravity as tools for feedback;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We will aim to replace judgment, ambition and expectation with curiosity and presence. In improvisation, there is no single right way to move;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Push the boundaries of your comfort zone in order to learn and grow;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build an environment of mutual support and respect in order for students and instructors alike to learn from one another and build trust.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Evaluation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is a <strong>one-credit<\/strong> course that does not carry a grade.
