Macalester College Presents Enso String Quartet
January 21, 2010 – St. Paul, Minn.– The Enso String Quartet, recently nominated for a Grammy award, will perform on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in Macalester College’s Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, 1600 Grand Ave., St. Paul, Minn.
The Enso Quartet has received rave reviews from such publications as the Washington Post and Fanfare magazine. It is made up of violinists Maureen Nelson and John Marcus, violist Melissa Reardon, and cellist Richard Belcher.
The group has claimed multiple honors at musical competitions, including the 2004 Banff International String Quartet Competition and the 2003 Concert Artists Guild International Competition.
Their Macalester program will include a multimedia-enhanced performance of SONA (Concert Suite Version) by composer Kurt Stallmann, who will be present, and Different Trains by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steve Reich.
This performance is part of Macalester’s New Music Series, generously funded by the Rivendell Foundation. The performance is free and open to the public. For more information call 651-696-6808.
