It takes some time to see what is out there, what is interesting to you, and what you are qualified and/or eligible for. Some programs are designed for rising sophomores. Some opportunities require previous research experience. Some programs target under-represented students (e.g., financial status, first-generation college students, racial groups, geographic regions).
