Stephanie Alden has over 15 years of experience working as a science teacher in secondary education settings. She received her undergraduate degree from Carleton College in Northfield Minnesota where she was a Music major and also Pre-med. She received her Master's in Education and teaching license at the University of Minnesota. She has worked teaching Physical Science, Biology and Interdisciplinary Science in diverse settings, from public schools to international schools. She has also worked as a naturalist in residential environmental education centers (including Wolf Ridge in northern Minnesota). In addition to her position at the MAX Center, she works at the Science Museum of Minnesota as a Mentor Teacher.
In her current position at the MAX Center, she provides individual and group support to students on science topics, learning difficulties, time management, test-taking, reading and problem solving strategies. She provides MAX Center outreach to various departments, programs, and offices around campus. She is also the Science Success Program Director for the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program here at Macalester.
Interests and Passions- Outdoor Activities; including hiking, camping, biking, and cross-country skiing.
