Diane P. Michelfelder is a professor and former provost and dean of the faculty at Macalester. Her teaching and research unfolds at the intersection of 20^th century European philosophy and the philosophy of technology. Much of her current and published work focuses on the ethical and social implications of emerging technologies, particularly the Internet.. In 2012-2013 she taught Ethics: Happiness and Philosophical Inquiry, Critical Thinking, Ethics and the Internet, Environmental Ethics, and 20^th Century Continental Philosophy: Phenomenology. A past president of the Society for Philosophy and Technology, she was instrumental in forming fPET (the Forum for Philosophy, Engineering and Technology) and is a member of the scientific advisory board of the journal Philosophy and Technology.
