Operation ELM

The mission of the Macalester College Human Resources Department is to design and implement programs that promote a preeminent working environment for the College's employees. This mission supports the overall College Mission to be a preeminent liberal arts college known for its high standards in scholarship and its special emphasis on internationalism, multiculturalism and service to society.

The skills, cooperation and dedication of the College's staff are essential for the institution to function effectively. The Human Resources Department is committed to attracting, selecting, retaining and developing a staff workforce that maintains the College's high standards. The Department is committed to the honest and fair treatment of all employees, while at the same time, it fosters the best interests of the institution. In support of our workforce, the Department facilitates:

• trust and respect among the employees of the College,
• a sensitivity to the demographic and cultural differences in the workforce,
• open and honest communication across the College's community, and
• a model of how we value our employees.

The Department is further committed to advise and to consult with the College's management and employees on Human Resources topics. The Department also implements strategic Human Resources planning and best-in-class Human Resources practices to achieve these ends.
