Public Finance, Environmental Economics, and Urban Economics
Prof. West’s research focuses on estimating behavioral responses to policies for the control of vehicle pollution, including taxes on gasoline, subsidies to clean vehicles, and Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. She co-edited the book Environmental Issues in Latin America and the Caribbean and published articles in American Economic Review, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Transport Economics and Policy, National Tax Journal, and Regional Science and Urban Economics. She teaches Public Finance, Environmental Economics and Policy, Intermediate Microeconomic Analysis, and Principles of Economics.
