The new $150 million Step Forward campaign derives its name and inspiration from one
overarching goal: to enable Macalester to step forward into a new era of excellence by
providing support for key initiatives that directly benefit students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Macalester graduates enter the world as leaders of uncommon character and distinction, and
this pivotal campaign will ensure that coming generations of Macalester scholars are able to
continue this tradition of accomplishment. This campaign represents a call to action for all of
us to step forward and invest in Macalester’s future.
Step Forward: The Campaign for Macalester will propel the college to new levels of success
and will bring our financial resources to a level commensurate with our peers. Whether an outright gift
or a planned gift, a contribution to the Step Forward campaign will build on the rich legacy of supporting
Macalester. DeWitt Wallace’s gift was undeniably instrumental in helping Macalester become the academic
