“The Middle East: Iraq and the Arab-Israeli Conflict”
Friday, April 11, at 4:30-6:30pm, Carnegie 06
Dr. Juan R.I. Cole from the University of Michigan will provide reflections on the Middle East with special attention to Iraq and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
“Jerusalem’s Unsacred Geography”
Saturday, April 12, at 11:00-1:00pm, Carnegie 06
Dr. Salim Tamari, Executive Director of the Institute for Jerusalem Studies in Jerusalem, will present on the history of the worldly city of Jerusalem and its future will be viewed as a prism for understanding the territorial aspects of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
“Forty Years in Search of Arab-Israeli Peace”
Thursday, May 1, at 4:30-6:30pm, Carnegie 06
Dr. William Quandt from the University of Virginia will discuss the challenges of creating an Arab-Israeli peace that will confront the new US administration.
These lectures are open to the whole Macalester Community. Light snacks will be provided.

As a constituent unit of Macalester's Institute
for Global Citizenship, the mission of the International Center
is to strengthen liberal arts education by engaging students and
faculty in international and intercultural learning. This mission
is accomplished primarily through the four programs below and their
related activities and services:
The International Center has a qualified professional staff
ready to help you. We are located at the intersection of Snelling
and Summit Avenues. 
Effective July 1st, 2007, the International
Student Program, which remains under the direction of Aaron
Colhapp and which was previously a part of the International Center
mission, was transferred under the administrative umbrella of the
Student Affairs division, to allow better coordination and provision
of student services to an important facet of the College's mission.
The offices and staff of the International Student Program
continue to share space at the 1576 Summit address with the International
Center, but are now located on the garden level of the historic
building.
