April Lunch and Learn - Wednesday, April 23

Join us for the next Lunch and Learn co-sponsored by WHAM and the Sustainability Office on Wednesday, April 23 from noon - 1:00 pm in the Olin-Rice Smail Gallery.  “The Green Line is coming! How You Get There Matters” - Transportation Options Present and Future, will be presented by St. Paul Smart Trips.

Big changes are coming soon. The 11 mile long Central Corridor Light Rail Transit line opens on June 14. Major improvements in bus service will also take effect with the opening of the Green Line. Learn how you can maximize your public transit, biking and walking connections to the campus and beyond. 

Students, faculty, and staff are welcome.  Lunch will be provided to those who registered beginning at 11:45 am.

Faculty and Staff chair massage- Sign ups begin 4/22

Need a few moments of relaxation?   Staff Week massages are back!  Staff and Faculty, sign up for a 15 minute chair massage, sponsored by WHAM.   Massages are available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, April 28-30, and are provided by licensed massage therapists.

Late Spring 2014 Physical Activity Classes - Click here to sign up ONLINE

Sign-up and registration begins Monday, March 10, 9 am, through an online process.  Classes begin the week of March 24, 2014. If you prefer to pay cash or use aux points, you may register at Health and Wellness Center. Each class must have a minimum of 10 participants for the class to take place.

The 6-week series of classes have a registration fee of $20 for students and $25 for faculty and staff. If that class meets more often, the registration fee may be higher and is noted by the class description.

Belly Dance - Thursdays, 12:05 - 12:55 pm, 3/27 - 5/1/14
Shimmy into shape with this core-intensive, dance workout! Tone your abs, arms, glutes and legs as you learn the irresistible basic belly dance moves. Class will include a warm-up, drills, and simple combinations to music that will make you want to get up and dance! No previous dance experience or special clothing required. You can wear yoga or workout clothes, and bare feet, socks, or dance sandals/slippers. A scarf, shawl or coin skirt around your hips to accentuate the movement is optional. Everyone is welcome, regardless of fitness level, age, body type or gender.

Boot Camp - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:05 - 12:55 pm, 3/25 - 5/1/14
A fun, high energy class with ever changing routines aimed at incorporating cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and core strength.  This is an advanced class that involves low impact jumping, running, and interval training.   Because this class meets twice per week, the fee is $35 for students and $40 for faculty and staff.

Circuit Training - Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:05 - 12:55 pm, 3/24 - 4/30/14
Resistance training that provides a total body strength workout and elevates the heart rate.  Because this class meets twice per week, the fee is $40 for faculty and staff.

Pilates - Tuesdays, 12:05 - 12:55 pm, 3/25 - 4/29/14
Strengthen and lengthen with Pilates! This 45 minute mat class will help you develop abdominal strength and control, while creating a connection between your core and the rest of your body. The exercises emphasize proper breathing, precise alignment, and efficient sequencing of movement. All levels welcome.

Yoga - Wednesdays, 12:05 - 12:55 pm, 3/26 - 4/30/14
Learn yoga basics in this beginner-friendly hatha yoga class.  Explore alignment principles of specific poses (asanas) and experience more flowing movement sequences (vinyasa).  Increase strength, flexibility, and body awareness, and leave feeling more calm and refreshed.  Bring own mat and wear comfortable clothing.

Yoga - Mondays, 12:05 - 12:55 pm, 3/24 - 4/28/14
Join a CorePower trained yoga teacher for a 50-minute power Vinyasa flow.  This invigorating class connects breath and movement through a dynamic and intelligently designed series of postures, emphasizing body awareness and mindfulness.  Set to music, this practice will leave you energized and refreshed.  Mats will be provided, but bring own if possible.  Please wear comfortable athletic wear and bring a bottle of water.
