Summer Session 1 Classes for Staff and Faculty

Registration will open on Monday, May 8 and close promptly on Wednesday, May 17 at 4 pm. Please register on time. Late registrations are not accepted.  If classes do not meet the minimum enrollment (10 or more people for fall and spring, 8 or more for summer) by the registration deadline, the class may be canceled.  You will be notified and refunded if we cancel the class.  Please note:  Refund requests are only available up to the first day of class.

The 6-week series begins the week of May 22, 2023 to June 30, 2023.  Participants will receive a meeting invite from their instructor.

To foster community well-being, spouses or partners are eligible to register for WHAM classes. To gain access to the Leonard Center, staff and faculty must complete the Employee Plus 1 Membership Registration to sponsor their one member guest.  Membership is free.  There is only a $5 fee for an access card.  Learn more about Leonard Center Membership Information.

Masks are no longer expected to be worn indoors for community members or guests.  For a list of exceptions please visit our Mask Policy.

Simple Registration Process

No login required!   1)  Go to the WHAM Marketplace website, 2)  Select your class, 3)  Complete the registration, add your name, acknowledge the Assumption of Risk and pay by credit card, 4)  Submit your registration and await your email confirmation.

Class Descriptions


Dance Cardio – Mondays, 12:05 – 12:50 pm, Leonard Center, Studio 1, May 22 – June 26.  Cost $25.  Improve your endurance, strength, coordination and flexibility in this fun, calorie-burning, dance workout! After a full body warm up, you’ll be led through easy-to-follow moves set to today’s hottest pop, hip-hop and dance music, as well as your favorite throwbacks! This class is great for all fitness levels and no dance experience is required. Please wear indoor sneakers or dance shoes, bring a water bottle, and get ready to sweat!  Instructor: Ariel Linnerson

Strength Training

Circuit TrainingTuesdays & Thursdays, 12:05 – 12:50 pm, Deno Fitness Center, May 23 – June 29.  Cost $40.  Resistance training that provides total body strength, endurance, core strength, and cardiovascular fitness.  Participants are able to work at their own pace and push themselves based on their goals and fitness level. This class meets twice per week for 6 weeks.  Instructor: Scott Hintz

Awareness Through Movement® – Tuesdays, 4:00 – 5:00 pm, Leonard Center, Studio 1, May 23 – June 27. Cost $25. Come check out the transformative practice of the Feldenkrais Method®. Open to all levels of ability and experience. Whether you are looking to improve your coordination and mobility or find relief from chronic pain and postural tension, these classes are an excellent way to expand your sense of well-being and possibility. Since how you move is how you move through life, these improvements will often enhance your thinking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving capabilities. ATM class most often takes place lying down on mats, but occasionally in a sitting or standing position. Similar to Tai Chi or gentle yoga, Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes use slow, mindful movements to achieve powerful effects in terms of strength, flexibility, and holistic integration of body and mind. As you attend to the improving quality of movement, unnecessary muscular tensions throughout the body can reorganize and release. Participants are often amazed at the quick and clear changes that occur through the neuromuscular repatterning that happens in an Awareness Through Movement lesson. Pain Relief & Injury Prevention

Movement + Mobility – From The Ground Up Wednesdays, 8:00 – 8:45 am, Leonard Center Studio 1, May 25 – June 28.  Cost $25.  Get guided mobility exercises designed by trainer Angela Nguyen that are tailored to your body and lifestyle to relieve pain, prevent injury, improve range of motion and improve performance. The class offers simple, easy-to-follow movement and mobility sequences that will take us from your feet, and up the kinetic chain over the course of the series. Many of which you can do right from the comfort of home. And in as little as 10 minutes a day, you can eliminate chronic pain, expand your range-of-motion, and increase your athletic output. Required equipment: a foam roller and mobility/lacrosse ball. If you have your own equipment, please bring it. There is a limited number available for participants. The instructor will also offer a virtual option to join. Instructor: Angela Nguyen.


Hatha YogaWednesdays, 12:05 – 12:50 pm, Leonard Center, Studio 1, May 25 – June 28.  Cost $25.  Learn yoga basics in this beginner-friendly hatha yoga class.  Explore alignment principles of specific poses (asanas) and experience more flowing movement sequences (vinyasa).  Increase strength, flexibility, and body awareness, and leave feeling more calm and refreshed.  Instructor: Ariel Linnerson
