Macalester students are citizens of 97 countries; and for 24 percent, the U.S. isn’t one of them. Learning in an environment that draws students from around the world, from all different kinds of backgrounds and from all 50 states, makes discussions richer and prepares students for life after college. The symbol of this commitment can be seen in the flags on the more than 100 flagpoles on Macalester’s campus, most in the Ruth Stricker Dayton Campus Center, where the second-floor balcony is lined with flags from countries that students call home.
