Just as eating healthy and being more active are important to your health and well-being, so too is healthy thinking.  That’s why we’re offering support and resources to help employees be resilient and feel more in control.

Below are some tools and opportunities to help.

Omada Mind

Omada Mind is a new online program that offers support and coaching to help you feel your best. You’ll gain techniques to help you tackle life’s challenges: whether it’s finding relief in the tough moments, managing the stress of today’s environment, or developing lasting mindset changes to improve your health for the long haul.

With Omada Mind, you’ll get secure, convenient access to:

  • Your own plan, tailored to fit your needs

Omada Mind is free to staff, faculty, and your family members on Macalester’s health plan. You can print or download the Omada Mind flyer to share with them.

Tackle Stress

Stress is normal. It happens to all of us. Did you know a certain level can even be healthy? While some stress can be healthy, too much can have negative effects on our health. During this activity, you’ll learn stress management techniques by reading and watching videos to use in your daily life.

What to expect:

  • Commit to trying four new stress management techniques throughout this activity
  • Track each habit three to six times before moving on
  • Go at your own pace
  • Keep tracking until you’ve completed all four techniques

Healthy Thinking

Stress is normal – and in fact sometimes stress can be a good thing. In order to use stress in your favor, it’s important to strengthen your emotional fitness and build healthy thinking habits.

  • Discover how to replace negative thoughts with true statements
  • Practice and track as you create a new healthy habit

Mindfulness Class

Come learn how mindfulness can help us weather the storms of our lives with more calm, acceptance and compassion.  This class is open to all staff and faculty, whether you are new to mindfulness or you would like to revitalize or deepen your meditation practice. Participants will learn ways to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives, including silent and guided meditations, compassion practices, and breath awareness.

Resiliency Courses

Practice skills to build and strengthen your resilience. Learn how to improve your mood and relationships, find career fulfillment, learn to recognize and deal with impolite/offensive behavior and feel better throughout the day.

Feel more in control of your life.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

All employees are eligible to participate in the Employee Assistance & Work/Life Support Program (EAP). The EAP is available at no cost to you and your family and offers assistance with a wide variety of concerns, including:  Personal; Family; Work; Legal; Financial; Alcohol/Drugs; Mental Health;  and more.

The EAP is available online is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at Counselors will help clarify your concerns, assess your situation, and identify options to help you resolve problems. Whether you need short-term counseling, a special evaluation, or on-going counseling or treatment, our EAP counselors can refer you to resources in your community. On-going counseling or treatment referrals are based on your insurance and ability to pay. The costs of on-going care are your responsibility and our EAP will help you find the most cost-effective resource.

The EAP is a confidential, safe and easy to use resource for you and your family. Your discussions are private and you can talk to counselors at no cost. No matter how often you call, no one will know unless you tell someone. It is in everyone’s best interest to see that personal and work problems are dealt with as early as possible. The College encourages you and your family to use the EAP. You’ll find that help is just a phone call away.
