Daniel Coral Reyes is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Macalester College. Bridging film studies, cultural studies, and literary history, his research investigates the dialogue between contemporary cinema and late 19th-century visual and literary narratives on the Amazon and Tierra del Fuego. He traces how Latin American activists and filmmakers contest the colonial archive and envision alternative futures through creative interventions. In the classroom, Daniel encourages students to critically engage with the construction of cultural memory, the self-representation of Indigenous identities, and the relationship between narrative and landscape in Latin America.
