Writing Center

Welcome to the Writing Center @ Mac!

The WC includes professional staff and peer writing tutors who offer individualized and collaborative support for writers and their texts throughout the writing process. Staff and peer tutors work with students on a variety of writing projects, including: essays for classes across the disciplines; capstone papers and honors projects; and personal statements and related application materials for graduate school, grants and scholarships, study away programs, employment, and other opportunities.

What to Expect When you Meet with a Writing Tutor

When you make an appointment for tutoring in the Writing Center, take note of the name of your tutor. You’ll also receive a confirmation email with your tutor’s name.

  • If you are meeting with a peer tutor, you’ll find that tutor sitting in Library 309 with a name sign on the table.
  • If you have an appointment with one of our professional staff members, you can find them in the Writing Center’s suite offices.

Bring your laptop and be prepared to share your document with the tutor. Your tutor will introduce themselves and ask where you’d like to sit and what you’d like to work on. The tutor will take cues from you about your priorities for the session and the way you would like to work.
