Fellowships and Scholarships

Did you know that Macalester College is often a Top Producer of Fulbright Awards? That we typically send at least one Mac student on an exploratory Watson Fellowship year? And that students and alums have recently been named Goldwater Scholars, Knight Hennessy Scholars, and Rhodes-Mandela Scholars?

Macalester students and alums often apply for nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships, and we have resources to support these applications!

The opportunities supported by our Fellowship Advisor in Academic Success are highly competitive—and depending on a award, they provide funding for graduate or undergraduate education, post-graduation independent research and travel, or post-bacc internships. In other words, while they may be hard to win, these awards provide incredible benefits, including access to valuable mentoring and rich cohort groups.

Successful applications require advanced planning, so it’s never too early to start thinking about and researching these opportunities. Some of these awards require institutional nomination, too, so check out the details in the pages linked below, and then contact Fellowship Advisor Britt Abel to discuss any questions you might have about the opportunities and the application process.
