Takeo Kuwabara teaches courses on leadership, negotiation, consensus building, dialogue across conflicting values, behavioral economics, environmental policy, and ethics. His research interests and previous field work include: collaborating with communities seeking to address the legacies of violent civil conflict in Northern Ireland and Peru; supporting collective climate adaptation interventions; building knowledge and capacity for community efforts to mitigate the disruptions of new technological interventions; and evaluating sustainability efforts and policies with a particular focus on how consensus building can further sustainability goals and enhance outcomes for all stakeholders. Prior to joining Macalester he taught at MIT, Harvard, and Bowdoin College. He holds undergraduate degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduate degrees from the University of San Diego and Harvard University.
