The Common Data Set (CDS) was developed in a cooperative effort between publishers (College Board, Wintergreen/Orchard House, Peterson’s, and U.S. News) and colleges. The goal of the CDS is to improve the comparability of data reported by colleges and to ease each institution’s reporting burden by asking questions in a standard way.
