Susanna Drake studies and teaches courses on religion, sexuality, and gender in the ancient Mediterranean. Her research interests include early Christian and Jewish relations, material culture, gender, and emotion in late antiquity, and biblical interpretation in art and text. She has recently published a book on veiling practices in antiquity, Veiling in the Late Antique World (Cambridge University Press, 2025). Her first book, Slandering the Jew: Sexuality and Difference in Early Christian Texts, was published by University of Pennsylvania Press in 2013.
