Class of 1970 Gathering

The Class of 1970 will mark an early entrance into the Golden Scots Society at this virtual gathering celebrating the past and the future.  Join in a moment of community with your fellow 1970 classmates before Reunion officially commences, led by committee co-chairs Mary Ackerman and Peter Fenn.

The Grand Celebration: A Reunion Kickoff Event

Gather with classmates and friends for a celebration of this year’s alumni award recipients, a Reunion gift presentation for this all-class celebration recognizing alumni across the generations and a message from Macalester’s seventeenth President Dr. Suzanne Rivera. The program begins at 11 a.m. CDT

‘05 Virtual Reunion Kick-Off with Distinguished Citizen Award Winner M.anifest
This event will be hosted on the Class of 2005 Instagram account. A link will be sent to you by email prior to the event.
Come hear about Kwame Amet Tsikata’s (aka M.anifest) journey from Econ/Poli Sci major to international hip hop superstar with collaborations with artists like Erykah Badu, Burna Boy, Damian Albarn (Gorillaz), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Femi Kuti, and more. Hear about his work with UNICEF and others, followed by a live performance to kick off our Reunion events.

The Great Mac Dance Together with Celebrity Mixology (cocktail 730, dance afterwards)

Join us for an all-class dance party to kick off our week of Reunion 2020! We’ll start at 7:30 PM CDT with a cocktail and mocktail demonstration from Joan Bennett, Class of 2005, featuring Macalester celebrity guest Joan Bennett, Class of 2005, featuring Macalester celebrity guest former head of security Terry Gorman (and his kilt). Afterwards, Chad Kampe, Class of 2004, of Flip Phone will be spinning tunes and taking requests. Turn off your camera, turn up the music, and dance like no one’s watching – or turn on your camera and show off your moves and Mac gear! Kids, partners, and pets are welcome to join in and get down for this family-friendly dance party.

African Based Movement with Sister Patricia Brown

Put on some comfy clothes and join us for an uplifting movement class with Macalester’s own Sister Patricia Brown, an active member of the Twin Cities arts community as a dancer, instructor, performer and choreographer for the past 22 years. She is an African-based movement instructor whose fusion style is rooted in dance of West Africa and other regions, the Caribbean, and the Americas. She is a teaching artist who works with students of all ages.

The Great Mac Dance Together with Celebrity Mixology

Grab your martini glass and meet us on Zoom for the grand finale of every Reunion – the Great Macalester Get Together aka the Martini Tent! Turn off your camera, turn up the music, and dance like no one’s watching – or turn on your camera and show off that dance you learned on Tik Tok! After all, you never know who you might see at the Martini Tent. Our night will start with a cocktail and mocktail demonstration at 8:30 PM CDT by Joan Bennett, Class of 2005, featuring Macalester celebrity guest former VP for Student Affairs Laurie Hamre.
