Examples of Student Research
Real Research Work
Macalester students don’t just use their problem-solving skills and tackle tough research questions, they share it with the world on the (inter)national stage through conferences, performances, and peer-reviewed publications. Check out some listings of student work to the right, and a few highlights below!
Summer Showcase
In what is becoming an annual Fall tradition at Mac Fest, students gather to share their summer work with the Macalester community. A listing of many of those projects, which include research, internships, entrepreneurship, and more, can be found here at the Digital Summer Showcase.

Scholars at the Capitol
With disciplines ranging from anthropology to physics and history to criminology, the breadth of the subject matter presented at Scholars at the Capitol represents the wide range of student learning that occurs every day at Minnesota Private Colleges. Scholars will present their research via a public poster session at the Minnesota State Capitol building. Members of the public, policymakers, faculty and staff, students and others are invited to attend. Each year, Macalester selects two students represent the college and showcase their scholarly work. Generally, the application opens in November and presenters are selected before winter break.
