Japan House

Japan House is located at 1661-1663 Princeton, and has two doubles and one single. The Japan House is the center of Japan-related activities for the Macalester community. Macalester students and the Student Program Assistant work together to improve their Japanese language skills and are committed to a communal life with a focus on Japanese food, language, and culture. Residents plan Japan-related activities, such as movie nights and cooking parties, and invite community members to participate. Preference is given to students preparing for or returning from study away. The department reserves the right to select from the applicant pool. Students not involved in study away activities must stay in the Japan House for the academic year.

Chinese House

Macalester students share the Chinese House with the Student Program Assistant.   The Chinese House is the site for Chinese celebrations such as the Moon Festival or Chinese New Year. Residents  host other events like game night or movie night,  prepare authentic meals, and improve their Chinese speaking ability. Preference is given to students preparing for or returning from study away. The department reserves the right to select from the applicant pool. Students not involved in study away activities must stay in the Chinese House for the academic year.  The house is located at  216 Vernon Street.
