Educating in the Blacklight: Fugitivity, Abolition, and Accommodation

Brian Lozenski (Educational Studies) will discuss Educating in the Blacklight: Fugitivity, Abolition, and Accommodation. Drawing from his recent publication, “My Emancipation Don't Fit Your Equation": Critical Enactments of Black Education in the U.S., Lozenski will explore how the practices of fugitivity, abolition, and accommodation have framed the education of African American communities. The discussion will cover a wide historical range from pre-colonial West African education to contemporary educational politics in Minnesota. Here is a link to the event, which can be added to your Google Calendar. You can subscribe to the Serie Center Events calendar for a list of all our events. Lunch will be provided.
