AmorSeguro Talk #2

Come to Esperanza United's April series of safe sex talks funded by the Action Fund (Community Engagement Center). We will have tamales and agua fresca and everyone is welcome to come!

Date: April 13, 2024

Time: 12-2 p.m.

Title:¿Y nuestras anticonceptivas? What about our contraceptives?

Location:  DeWitt Wallace Library - LIBR 133 Harmon Room

Description: The resources granted to Latin@s for contraception are limited. Latin@s continue to face barriers in finding options that are affordable and available. As a consequence, they experience unintended pregnancy 2x more than white peers. Where do we go from here? Come to this talk to hear the many barriers, from insurance-based to controlling partners, faced in getting contraceptives for Latin@s and how to tackle them. Free contraceptives provided!

Attendance at these talks will automatically enter you into a raffle to win a $200 Amazon gift card as well (1 entry per talk for a chance of 3).

Speakers:

  • Steph Walters - MD, MPHmedical director at Laurie Hamre Center for Health and Wellness
  • Nicola Michael-Tsai - insurance and referral specialist at Laurie Hamre Center for Health and Wellness
  • Daniella Ortega - sociologist
