The Current Counter-Insurgency Strategy in Southern Mexico and Resistance under the AMLO Regime

The departments of Spanish & Portuguese and Latin American Studies present a talk by Professor Mariana Hernández Burg, Autonomous University of Social Movements.


Professor Hernández Burg has worked accompanying independent indigenous community education processes in Chiapas since 2000. In 2003 she began working closely with autonomous Zapatista educators in Polhó, and then worked with Zapatista educators in Oventik.


She also teaches Tsotsil Literacy and Spanish as a second language at the Tsotsil Alternative Integral Education Project and coordinates a Tsotsil Women’s Literacy Program in the Chiapas Highlands. Pizza will be served.
