POP TALK: Dark Fairytales

All students from across campus are invited to POP TALKS: Dark Fairytales on Wednesday, November 13, 5-6:00pm in Old Main 4th Floor Lounge. POP TALKS is a series of discussions on a POPular culture topic with different English faculty leading each talk. Professor Penelope Geng and student Dalton Greene will lead this talk and they will ask: Why do we take delight in reading “dark” fairytales? Why are we drawn to tales that trouble our everyday sensibilities? For this Pop Talk, we’ll explore disturbingly good classic and modern fairytales and screen the cute (but not cute) Pixar short-film “Bao” (2018) by Domee Shi. Please pop in for some POPular culture talk and popcorn. Bring friends.
