Dr. Roopika Risam, Chair of Secondary and Higher Education and Associate Professor of Education and English at Salem State University, will join the Macalester community on Thursday, March 3rd, for a virtual discussion. Dr. Risam's research interests lie at the intersections of postcolonial and African diaspora studies, humanities knowledge infrastructures, and digital humanities.

Dr. Risam will respond to questions about the state of the digital humanities and public scholarship. She will discuss her current book project, “Insurgent Academics: A Radical Account of Public Humanities,” and draw from her experiences directing the Mellon-funded Digital Ethnic Futures Consortium, and co-editing Reviews in DH, among other initiatives.

This event is open to Macalester faculty, staff, and students, and will be moderated by Aisling Quigley, director of the Digital Liberal Arts. It is supported by the Making Meaning grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
