She/Her

Hi! I’m Amanda and I use she/her pronouns. Helping students learn and use practical tools to assist in their next right thing makes me happy.

A first generation college student, I played on the college tennis team, which is how I met most of my friends. The college experience for me was very much about getting a degree as quick as possible. To help negate the cost of college, I worked an on-campus job as an early morning custodian cleaning the arts building and was a server at a local restaurant.

I hate to admit this but I didn’t know there was a career center on campus that could help me find an internship or job. Instead, I student taught before receiving my degree in education and visited the career center after graduation.

I was a high school social studies teacher and cross country coach before deciding to get my masters in college counseling and student development. I seriously love working with 18-22 year olds.

I serve on the Benchmarking and Research committee for the Minnesota Colleges and Universities Career Services Association . . . something that if you knew me 20 years ago would floor you. I’ve been known to vocalize my love-hate relationship with data and numbers. I am a Gallup-certified Strengths coach, a practitioner of Designing Your Life practices and the biggest fan of personality assessments.

When I’m not working, I tend to crave time at home. As an introvert, I value nature and the quiet it offers and do this on daily early morning walks and runs. I have four kids who keep me busy in each of their own ways. I tend to make the most mundane tasks into a competition — just ask my partner, Chris. This is his favorite trait of mine . . . oh, and I was born with sarcasm running through my veins.
