Anna Bergstrom

Hi! I’m Anna Bergstrom (she/her). I started in May 2025 as the Employer Engagement Specialist, meaning I organize programming with employers looking to hire Mac students, as well as managing Handshake and some of our student workers. 

I graduated from St. Olaf College in 2021 with a degree in Social Work and a concentration in Family Studies, and became a Licensed Social Worker. The world of social work is vast, and there were many paths I knew I didn’t want to take, so I was excited to get a job in my dream area – adoption. I spent three years working with foster and adoptive families. That position taught me so much about being a professional and how to juggle many roles and responsibilities, but ultimately I felt that something was missing. Working remotely while handling highly emotional situations took a toll on me, so I decided to try out a different career path that is exclusively in-person – preschool teaching. I’m glad that I tried it out and learned that I prefer working with much older students! 

While I’m new to being a higher education professional, my work study jobs and club leadership roles in college prepared me well. I served students in many areas, from residence life and admissions to the post office. During my senior capstone internship, I had the opportunity to create a brand new program to support students and experienced the behind the scenes of curating a college community. My work experience has also taught me how many skills are transferable and can be used in different contexts. Your major can take you on so many more paths than are obvious at first glance, and I’m grateful for what social work taught me about structures, coordination, building relationships, and adapting processes to meet an individual or organization’s needs. 

I live in Minneapolis with my bunny, Elsie. I enjoy visiting estate sales, walking around the lake, and making a big mess with an art or sewing project. I love a community event, so you’ll often find me at a local art fair, group exercise class, or rehearsal for my community choir.
