Hazing at Macalester College involves any activity in a group context expected of a student joining or participating in that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them, regardless of that student’s willingness to participate. In a coercive environment, consent cannot be freely given. Hazing can involve intimidation, harassment, and/or violence; can be visual, verbal, and/or physical, and may result in physical, emotional, and/or psychological harm.
Macalester College also follows 135A.155 MN Statute on Hazing.
To report an alleged hazing incident, as described above, you may reach out to the Dean of Students office at [email protected], or you may submit a Hazing Incident Reporting Form.
Incidents reported will be investigated through the student conduct process listed in the Student Handbook.
Comprehensive education about hazing is available, by request, to all students, staff, and faculty, through the Health Promotion workshop/training request form.
