Professor Loe works in survival analysis, longitudinal data, and machine learning; specifically, she is interested in nonparametric and semiparametric time-to-event models for multistate data. She enjoys collaborating with researchers across many disciplines, including pulmonary medicine and microbiology. In the classroom, she loves breaking down problems into first principles so that students understand the logic behind a result, and seeing the “ah-ha” moments. When not thinking about statistics, Professor Loe can be found doing one of her hobbies, of which a non-exhaustive list includes: playing volleyball and soccer, backpacking, running, quilting, baking (sometimes for class), and making really bad pottery.
