Dear New Macalester Parents and Families:

Welcome to Macalester!  Although it is likely that only one member of your family will be moving to campus this fall, we realize that you are an important part of the journey.   The experience that will culminate with a future college graduate is now underway, and we look forward to partnering with you in the coming years as together we support your college student.

Whether you are able to be on campus during orientation or you will be providing your support from afar, we want you to have an understanding of what lies ahead. Orientation is a busy time as students learn strategies to have a successful start of college, but the college transition begins before students even arrive to campus. The transition for parents and family members is equally busy and we will provide events for families to attend throughout the orientation weekend to assist with the adjustment and to learn more about Macalester and your student’s experiences.

If you plan to attend orientation with your student, please fill out the Parent and Family Registration Form.   There is no cost to attend but having this information helps us plan accordingly.  When you arrive for Move In, our staff can direct you to the Parent and Family Check-In Station.

On this page, you will find links to information on the Macalester website that will be helpful while you prepare for the many important transitions that lie ahead for you and your student.  Most importantly, however, we hope you will bookmark the Macalester Parents and Families webpage and visit it often.

Once again, welcome to the Macalester Community!
