Class of 1976

Reunion 2026: June 4 – 7, 2026

We are so excited to welcome back the Class of 1976 to campus in 2026 to celebrate your 50th year Reunion!

Committee members met on campus in August 2025 to work on planning the Reunion in June.

Dear Macalester Classmates (’76 and others),

“The days are long but the years are short.” (Gretchen Rubin)

Never has this quote seemed more apt as we ponder the almost 50 years(!) since our time at
Macalester. That’s a lot of water under the bridge of our lives…but in so many ways Freshman
year seems like yesterday. Remember the excitement and trepidation of moving into the dorm,
attending your first college classes, meeting people from all over the country (and world) of all
different backgrounds? But what we both remember most about our time at Macalester are the
relationships with other students. Connections between fellow majors, room and floor mates,
club members and teammates. Our 50th reunion is the perfect time to see those people again.

College staff and more than twenty of your classmates have already begun planning for the
weekend of JUNE 5-8, 2026. We would love to have you join us on the committee or contact us
with program ideas. If you think we have all changed in 50 years you may be stunned to see the
campus with new buildings, new sports and recreational facilities, greatly expanded grounds and
gorgeous landscaping. Our committee wants to include activities for everyone, whether you
knew 5 people or 50, were an introvert or extrovert, were at Mac for one year or four (or more).
Your classmates want to see you. We promise to make it a comfortable and special weekend.
Much more information will follow but SAVE THAT DATE!

We came of age in such turbulent and dramatic times but what we had at our small Liberal Arts
college in St. Paul, Minnesota, was special. We exchanged ideas, opinions and dreams. We had
each other, peers navigating the rough waters together. Join us and experience what only those
peers “get” about your college years. Share your memories, wisdom, friendship and plans for the
future!

Renew, Reconnect, Reunion.
