To start, Anna Binkovitz won an award for being the Sommelier Student of the Year. Each year, The Wine School of Philadelphia selects a student who has a positive effect on the learning environment in their classroom and has shown they will have a lasting impact on the wine world. This year, The Wine School of Philadelphia chose Macalester alum, Anna Binkovitz ’14. Read more here.

Professor Coral Lumbley has been selected as a member of the Institute for Advanced Study for the 2025–26 academic year. This is a prestigious research opportunity in Princeton, New Jersey that you can read more about here.

Professor Rachel Gold and their book, “Being Emily,” were mentioned in a New York Times article as the best book Stephanie Burt, a Harvard professor and poet, ever received as a gift. Read more here.

Last spring, Professor Amy E. Elkins published an article titled “Crafting the Queer Citational Turn” on the Oxford University Press Blog. Read the blog here.

Professor Amy E. Elkins also gave a lecture at the Houghton Library at Harvard University this past May. Her paper (and archival exhibition) was entitled “Intimate Possibilities: Crafting the Queer Modernist Archive” and was part of a panel on “Surfacing Craft in the Archive.” Get the full details here.

Sarah Ghazal Ali’s book, Theophanies, was awarded the Julie Suk Award by Jacar Press, the California Book Award, and was named a finalist for a Forward Prize: the Jerwood Prize for Best First Collection. For the Forward Prize, there will be an award ceremony in London at the Southbank Centre on Oct 26th, which is when the winners will be announced!
