Macalester English alum Xavier Paulson ’22 has self published two books based on coursework he began at Macalester. Orbiting What Remains, and the sequel, The Laser From Above, follow a band of interns in the world’s first international space hotel dealing with the effects of nuclear fallout on Earth. We won’t give any spoilers, but congratulations to Xavier! If you want to read the book for yourself, you can check it out here.

Another wonderful alum, Dalton Greene ’22, is also officially published! He recently published a scholarly book review, which is one of the exciting ways that scholars speak to and about each other in the world of academia. Dalton reviewed Staging Female Characters in Shakespeare’s English History Plays by Hailey Bachrach. Feel free to peruse it here!

Professor James Dawes had an opinion article published in The Conversation about the video game Baldur’s Gate 3. The article explores the surprising focus on narrative and storytelling within the game, which sets it apart from the often shallow, button-mashing, first-person shooter games that dominate the market. You can read Prof. Dawes’ article here!
