This semester, ten English majors undertook the capstone project across both the disciplines of Literature and Creative Writing. There was a wide range of forms and topics explored in the various projects. This included poetry, fantasy, photography, and much more! On April 25th and 26th, the ten students each shared a presentation in which they described the work they completed throughout the semester. The presentations were attended by many loving friends and family as well as the English professors who did so much to help support the students through their work.

The five Literature capstones were as follows:

Ella Rehman

“Picture This: One Hundred Years of Solitude and the Real Magic of Photography”

Mary McDonnell

“The Men Behind the Camera”

Lydia Schmelzer

“Natalia Ginzburg in Detail”

Gabby Helf

“What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Anti-Semitism”

Sydney Jones

“Turning Blue-Collars Green”

The five Creative Writing Capstones were:

Amarah Friedman

“Why We Run”

Charlie Kelley-Pegg

“Finding Orchids in Snowstorms”

Josh Groven

“Kairos: Writing at the Right Time”

Joe Petersdorf

“Negotiations: Poems”

Nam Nguyen

“Heather and The Four Guardians”

The English department would like to celebrate and officially congratulate all of the capstone students on their marvelous accomplishment!
