All English majors and minors are invited to Apps and Alums on Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00 p.m., hosted by the English Honor Society. In its fourth year, Apps and Alums is an opportunity for current students to mingle with English alumni over fancy appetizers.
Though the idea of networking often strikes fear in the hearts of undergrads, the atmosphere created at Apps and Alums is driven more by advice than tension. English majors follow an immense breadth of paths, and the attending alumni represent that diversity. From publishing and teaching to law school and spoken word, the English Honor Society invites English alumni from all walks of post-grad life to offer their expertise.
Delectable treats along with scintillating conversation make Apps and Alums an all around good time. Having attended twice myself, I can personally attest to the usefulness and enjoyment found at the event. Each time, I have walked away with both business cards and reassurance that crazier things have happened and worked out. Last spring, someone spoke of landing an internship from a company that hadn’t explicitly offered any by sending a gutsy email offering their services. Come for the networking opportunity (and the food), stay for the interesting connections and cool stories of life after Mac.
