Visual Resources Library

Mission Statement

Art and Art History, Visual Resources Library (VRL), at Macalester College supports the academic research and visual literacy scholarship of students, faculty, and staff.

Overview

The Visual Resources Library is comprised of several VRL Assistants (students), and the Visual Resources Library Specialist. In addition to day to day requests, the VRL staff are currently working on a large scale project, developing a new database of art and artists with several specific and unique points of focus. This project is ongoing with more information and updates coming soon. (11.15.2021) The VRL has a large collection of digital images, a variety of slides, and maintains a small library of books on art and art history. The VRL assists students, faculty, and staff in research of the artist, art making, and art.
