Why I chose Admissions
Like many of my colleagues, I unknowingly started my Admissions career as a student. I worked my way up from volunteer tour guide to tour guide coordinator and then all the way to admissions senior intern at Mac. I now want to share Mac’s great opportunities with high school students.
As a student at Macalester, I was a history and educational studies double major, a varsity baseball player, and a member of Macalester’s improv group, Fresh Concepts. I serve as the Admissions liaison to Mac athletics and am active in the Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling as a member of the Admissions Practices Committee.
Favorite thing about Mac
My favorite thing about Mac is how our community is centered on creating and acting on ‘Macalester Moments.’ The combination of our location in the Twin Cities, the rigor of our academics, and the passion and diverse interests of our community makes us uniquely situated to help our students both have that ‘lightbulb moment’ and then pursue it to great lengths right away. Our access to world-class faculty, top internships, study away opportunities, and seemingly endless extra-curricular options means that as soon as you have that moment—that “I just figured out what my next step is”—the Mac community has countless ways to make sure you’re already on your way to getting there.
Love about the Twin Cities
The Twin Cities are the best of both worlds. Our campus has access to all the resources of a pair of world-class cities, but we’re also in a beautiful, quiet and accessible neighborhood with all sorts of green space and local businesses. On a completely different note, as a former baseball player, I live a block from a light-rail train line that takes me to a brand new professional baseball field!
