From Dictatorship to Dissent: The Belarusian Experience

Andrei Sannikov—the Belarusian politician and diplomat who led the opposition movement in his country before being imprisoned and exiled—will be offering his unique insights on authoritarianism and political persecution in Belarus and Eastern Europe. Ambassador Sannikov served as Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus and ran in the 2010 Belarusian presidential election. With decades of experience in international relations, diplomacy, and human rights advocacy, his reflections on the current state of politics in Belarus, the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, and the prospects for democracy in the region will be of interest to all.
