Finding Your Place in Higher Ed

As Macalester strives for academic excellence, many students set their sights on graduate school and aspire to become scholars and professors themselves. But how do you pursue research when you feel like this is a place where you do not belong? How can you reach beyond this obstacle to find your own place and position on campus and in academia?

This forum will bring together Ariel Estrella '15, Kirisitina Sailiata '06, and Malik Earle '18, three Macalester Mellon Mays fellows who have faced this challenge and will offer guidance in how to affirm and strengthen your identity as researchers, intellectuals, and producers of knowledge.

This forum is sponsored by Macalester's Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) and Graduate School Exploration Fellowship (GSEF) programs, and will feature short introductions of these opportunities.

Everyone is welcome.
