Sign up to be added to our pre-health community at Mac!
Get on the Health Professions Advising list and you will be added to the self-paced, pre-health moodle course, which is a resource to be notified about upcoming events, and opportunities, and get matched with an advisor. While you are at it, join the student org, Health Professions Student Coalition, so you can be on their mailing list too! [email protected]

Pre-med Planning Worksheet
Did you know that you can major in anything as a pre-health student? There are a number of necessary prerequisite courses for most health professional programs, but with intentional planning, it is possible to fit them in along with a non-science major, including a semester of studying away! Use this tool to help you envision some different ways to structure your Macalester prerequisite coursework and map out your co-curricular goals and ideas. Then talk with a health professions advisor to verify.

Additional Campus Resources for Pre-Health Students

CAREER EXPLORATION (Kagin Commons)
Career Exploration is committed to helping students develop, understand and connect their liberal arts educational experience with their future goals. Career Advisors provide guidance with choosing a major, finding experiential learning opportunities, building application materials, and more. To start, check out the Healthcare and Science Research Career Community, Twin Cities organizations focused on public health, and internships recently completed by pre-health Mac students.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT CENTER (Kofi Annan Institution for Global Citizenship)
The Community Engagement Center helps students to find opportunities to engage with issues related to community and global citizenship, assisting them with their personal discernment of values, ethics, and commitments towards contributing to the public good in meaningful ways. Pre-health students often find opportunities to volunteer in different healthcare spaces around the community via the Health and Wellness category of CEC opportunities.

OFFICE OF STUDENT RESEARCH AND CREATIVITY (The Olin-Rice Hub) Interested in scientific research? Connect with this office to learn how to explore the world of scientific research. Students can pursue summer research with Macalester faculty, through off-campus opportunities with alumni and partners, or by applying for fellowships. See examples of past student projects here!
