Presidential Council for College Events

Council Formed for Campus-Wide Event Oversight

The Presidential Council for College Events will guide and oversee Macalester’s events strategy to ensure that campus-wide, recurring events of special significance to the college (Commencement, Reunion, Orientation, etc.) are well-coordinated, effective, and run as smoothly as possible. This group will collaborate to ensure event planning and execution are streamlined, sustainable, and equitable.

The Council will also evaluate and make recommendations for non-recurring events that don’t meet standard guidelines and protocols, such as requests to waive rental fees, events that include celebrity or political guests and speakers, etc.

The Council is not charged with implementing specific events; instead, it serves to put frameworks in place to facilitate successful and replicable events. All space reservations and initial event questions should continue to flow through EMS and the Reservations and Event Planning Dept.
