Students living in the EcoHouse have a unique opportunity to explore practical green-living lifestyles, to test the effectiveness of new green technologies, and to work with community partners to develop better resources on green renovations and sustainable lifestyles.  The 1950’s era was renovated in 2007 with “green” technology including a solar hot water system, a recyclable steel roof, wall insulation and high energy efficiency appliances.

The EcoHouse is located at 200 Vernon Street.  It has two single rooms and a double room, full kitchen and functions as a “live-in” laboratory for testing renovations and green technologies.  Students living in the EcoHouse are not required to have a residence hall meal plan and since it is college housing, all Residential Life and College policies apply. Residents are expected to take out the trash and recycling each week and during the winter months, shovel the sidewalk from the front door to the public sidewalk each time it snows.
