Your support of Macalester Athletics enhances the holistic experience of student-athletes. Your gift prepares students to be the leaders of the future and build toward excellence. Collective support amplifies the growth of Athletics fundraising and ensures our students continue evolving in their journeys ahead.
There are a variety of ways to support Mac Athletics philanthropically, now and into the future:
- Support right now! Current use giving:
- The Macalester Fund’s Athletics designation: Gifts of all sizes are used immediately to support the Athletics department build toward excellence with expanded efforts to support the whole student-athlete through nutrition and counseling services, student-athlete leadership development, expanded recruitment, and more.
- Varsity or club team support through the Macalester Fund: Gifts of all sizes go directly to the designated athletic team and work right away to augment the team’s budget and enhance the student-athlete experience.
- Support for the future! Endowment giving:
- Field Endowment Fund: Established by Becca Van Dyck ‘91 and Erik Thomsen ‘91 this endowment sustains the state-of-the-art playing surface available to football, soccer, club sport teams, and the on-campus and local community. The field at Macalester will be renamed John Leaney Field to honor the legacy of the field’s winningest coach.
- Goal: $2,000,000
- Minimum gift: $25,000
- Athletics Travel Fund: Provides domestic and foreign travel opportunities for student-athletes to live out our mission of internationalism and multiculturalism and spread the Macalester name across the country and the globe.
- Immediate goal: $100,000
- Long-term goal: $1,000,000
- Minimum gift: $100,000
- Team Endowments for Excellence: allows coaches to plan intentionally and strategically to support the holistic development and overall experience of their student-athletes.
- Minimum endowment: $100,000
- Endowment goal: $500,000
- Scots LEAD (Athletics Student Leadership Fund): Propels Macalester student-athletes towards holistic development and success and provides them with a competitive edge in life, at Macalester, and beyond. The LEAD program focuses on Leadership development, life skills, civic Engagement, career exploration, Academic success, and Diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Immediate goal: $300,000
- Long-term goal: $1,500,000
- Minimum gift: $100,000
- Endowed Coaching Positions: these endowments help support the head coach to enhance their budget while also supporting the coach’s compensation package.
- Goal: $2,000,000
- Minimum gift: $100,000
