  • Metro Transit Offerings: Universal Bus Passes available to all students. You can find local bus routes at: https://www.metrotransit.org/imap/map.aspx
  • Bike Share Program: Macalester students, staff, and faculty can rent a bike for free (along with a helmet and lock) at the checkout counter in the Library with a valid Mac ID. Bikes are available in three different sizes with adjustable seat post and handles to fit all different riders. Students in need of a bike more frequently can complete a personal bike request, which provides the opportunity to be given a bike permanently.
  • Macbike: MacBike is a student org that works to promote bicycling at Macalester and throughout the Twin Cities. They hold weekly open shops and rides throughout the semester to make biking fun and accessible to everyone. To get involved or find out more information contact [email protected].
  • EV Charging Station: Located in the island of the lot north of the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Complex is a Level 2 Charger.  This charger uses a J1772 connector and it is a 220V, 32 amp, 6.6 kWh charger. Most EVs will get the majority of their battery capacity charged in about four to five hours at this station. Another charging station is located in the lot south of Olin-Rice is a Level 3 DC Quick Charger.  This charger offers both CHAdeMO and CCS connectors and it can operate at 480V at up to 100 amps making it up to a 50 kWh charger.  Most EV will get the majority of their battery capacity charged in about a half an hour to an hour at this station.
  • EV Charging Pricing: The rates vary between the charging stations, as both present a different set of expenses to the College.  For the most up-to-date pricing, refer to the pricing information on the chargers’ screen.

  • Bicycle Friendly University designation:  Since 2016 Macalester has been recognized as a Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) designation from the League of American Bicyclists
  • Express Bike: Is a local Non-Profit bike shop in St. Paul, which Macalester collaborates closely with to keep its bike programs running smoothly
  • Perennial Cycle: Is a local bike shop in Minneapolis who has continuously supported the bike initiatives at Macalester.
